Looking Like Jesus

I can’t be something big for you Lord. I can only offer you what I have currently. I pray that I am enough Lord. That when I approach your throne that I will be found acceptable.

Some days I just feel less than. I feel that I am not good enough to approach your throne.

It is when I am being hard on myself, and judging myself in a harshly that I pray to the Lord in the above manner.

When I feel somehow that I have let the whole world down. How is that even possible, for one person to let the entire world down? Sometimes my own thoughts are my worst enemy.

Do you ever have thoughts like this, or pray a prayer like this?

I know that the Bible says that I am enough just the way I am. The truth is that God can’t accept any of us in our current condition – we all sin and fall short on a daily basis. It is through the redemptive power of Jesus’ blood that was shed on the Cross that we are all welcomed. Jesus offers us all a chance to repent and live life according to His will. It is a choice, one that carries with it the most infinite consequences.

The Lord accepts us as we are, but He desires that our character and nature keep changing while we are being transformed into the image of Jesus. After choosing to follow Jesus, we are a work in progress. We are daily being changed into His Image. Sometimes I want to hurry up the process, but the Lord’s timing is the best timing.

I don’t know about you, but I look forward to being transformed. I want others to be able to see the Lord when they look at me. That gets me thinking, what does Jesus look like? What does it mean to look like Jesus?
